Do you have a plan if the power goes out?

Lightning-Striking-earth

Summer thunderstorms can be powerful enough to damage electrical equipment and cause power outages. Flathead Electric, your member-owned, not-for-profit electric cooperative, wants you to stay safe and be prepared for summer storm outages. Here are a few reminders to help you prepare before the next summer storm:

  • Determine the safest shelter spot in your home.
  • Put together a storm kit with essentials like water, food, flashlights, batteries, prescriptions, and requirements for babies and pets.
  • Never touch or go near a downed power line, even if it appears safe. Remember our motto: if you want to survive, assume it’s live!

Remember, if you absolutely must have power due to a medical condition or other consideration, you must have a backup plan. Learn more on our Outage Preparation page.
