Recognizing Years of Dedicated Service: Thank you, Jay Downen
The Flathead Electric Cooperative Board of Trustees would like to thank a former member of the Board for his years of dedication and service. During his 20 years as a Trustee, Jay Downen was a champion for our mission as a not-for-profit, member-owned cooperative to provide competitive and reliable services, achieve the highest level of member satisfaction, and enhance the quality of life in our communities.
Jay spent his professional career advocating for electric cooperatives and their consumers. The former CEO and General Manager of Montana’s Electric and Telephone Cooperative Associations, he was cited for his work ensuring electric rates were free of unwanted costs. As a Trustee for Flathead Electric Cooperative, Jay continued working on behalf of our members to keep power affordable and reliable and he was an ardent supporter of local generation development. He served as President of the Board in 2005 and 2006, and Jay’s insights and leadership played a vital role in guiding Flathead Electric Cooperative – often through complex challenges and decisions – and helped the Co-op remain strong through changing landscapes.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Jay for his many contributions to Flathead Electric Cooperative, and for the lasting impact he has made on our Co-op. We wish him all the best in his journey ahead!
