Showing concern for our community is a cooperative principle.

Community

Flathead Electric Cooperative is a member-owned, not-for-profit 501(c)12 cooperative business, not a corporation. Part of what makes co-ops different is that their business models are guided by a set of principles which include operating with deep concern for the communities they serve. Your Co-op is proud that its leadership in philanthropy was recently recognized with a Corporate Citizenship Award by the Whitefish Community Foundation during its annual Great Fish Community Challenge.

Flathead Electric Cooperative encouraged company employees to donate to the Challenge by matching their contributions dollar-for-dollar. As noted by the Whitefish Pilot, your Co-op “has a long history of supporting nonprofit programs and projects in the Flathead Valley through its Roundup for Safety grant program, which has provided more than $4 million to local nonprofits since its inception.” Your Co-op thanks its members, who fund 100% of Roundup for Safety grants by rounding up their electric bills each month, for their concern for community.
