Flathead Electric Cooperative was proud to support the Mathcounts event at Flathead Valley Community College on February 15. Established in 1983, Mathcounts provides engaging math programs to United States middle school students of all ability levels to build confidence and improve attitudes about math and problem solving. It is a national organization that involves hundreds of thousands of students in grades 6 to 8.

In the Flathead Valley, about 75 students representing 8 local schools recently competed for an opportunity to advance to the Mathcounts state and national competition levels. Flathead Electric Cooperative supports Mathcounts in several ways. Jason Williams, who serves the Co-op as Assistant General Manager for Engineering, Operations, and Power, also serves Mathcounts as its local chapter coordinator. Jason, pictured below, was joined by several Co-op engineers to support the recent Mathcounts event. Your Co-op prizes education as essential to the growth and well-being of our communities and encourages all middle schoolers to explore the Mathcounts program!
