Canyon area to experience early morning power outage Friday for service work

2,500 members of Flathead Electric Cooperative, from Hungry Horse to West Glacier, will experience a power outage on Friday, January 19. This interruption in service will begin at 1 a.m. and conclude at approximately 7 a.m. The outage is necessary for FEC to relocate power lines to accommodate the Montana Department of Transportation’s Hungry Horse Bridge project. The outage was scheduled in the early morning hours to inconvenience members as little as possible.

Note added by FEC, 1/15/2018, 03:55 p.m.:

FEC understands and shares the concerns of our members regarding this planned power outage. We realize winter isn’t the best time to plan an outage, which is why we make every attempt to plan outages for routine maintenance during the warmer months. However, this outage is being driven by the Montana Department of Transportation’s construction schedule of the Hungry Horse Bridge. The temperatures for this week are forecasted to be slightly above average, giving us the opportunity to complete our work with the least amount of impact to the construction project, and more importantly to the members of FEC. The work was scheduled in the early morning hours so as not to disrupt important activities such as school and business operations. We have completed as much legwork as possible to reduce the length of the outage, and our crew will be working diligently through the night to complete the relocation and safely restore power as quickly as possible.
