Energy Efficiency Overview - How did Weyerhaeuser's results measure up?
Recently, Flathead Electric Cooperative named Weyerhaeuser our 2025 Energy Partner of the Year for outstanding efforts and accomplishments in energy efficiency. When talking about energy efficiency, though, it’s important to understand the difference between energy efficiency and energy conservation. When we talk about Weyerhaeuser’s savings, we’re saying that they are achieving the same amount of work but using over a million fewer kilowatt hours to do it.
Definitions
Frequently, energy efficiency and energy conservation are used as interchangeable terms, but they are quite different.
Energy Efficiency means finding more efficient ways to use energy (e.g., leaving the lights on to enjoy but replacing old bulbs with efficient LEDs).
Energy Conservation refers to going without (turning lights off, for example).
How did Weyerhaeuser’s results measure up?
