Flathead Electric Cooperative’s Roundup for Safety program continues to support life safety projects throughout the communities it serves, with the latest round of grants approved by the program’s Board of Directors in May.
Among the approved requests, Flathead Lake United Methodist Camp received $2,500 to enhance emergency preparedness and water safety at its camp facility. The grant includes $1,500 for an automated external defibrillator, commonly known as an AED, and $1,000 for additional water safety equipment.
The camp serves youth, families, and community groups on Flathead Lake, where access to emergency response equipment and water safety resources is especially important. The Roundup for Safety grant will help strengthen the camp’s ability to respond quickly in the event of a cardiac emergency and better protect participants during lake-based activities.
Roundup for Safety funding comes from Co-op members who choose to have their electric bills rounded up to the next dollar, with the extra change supporting local life safety projects. The program costs each member an average of about $6 per year, yet it has provided more than $5.5 million in community funding since 1997.

At its monthly meeting, the Roundup for Safety Board also approved funding for the following projects:
Whitefish Community School — $2,000 for installation of a new safety fence.
Assurance Auto — $1,000 for crew safety equipment.
Crown Gravity Collective — $520 for safety training.
Samaritan House — $6,000 for infrastructure improvements to support resident safety.
Libby Elementary School — $2,000 for a covered walkway to improve student safety.
Flathead Lake United Methodist Camp — $2,500 for an AED and additional water safety equipment.
Whitefish Legacy Partners / Flathead Trails Association — $4,000 for safety training
Calvary Lutheran Church — $6,000 for construction of an ADA ramp at the church’s community center.
Discovery Developmental Center — $6,000 for installation of a safety playground surface.
