A friendly fall reminder to pay attention to school buses and utility vehicles.
Fall means the beginning of the school year and the final push for construction – both great reasons to reflect on how important it is that we all make safe decisions. Please be on the lookout for school buses with flashing red lights when you see them. On a divided highway with a raised median, only traffic moving in the same direction as the bus must stop. On a two-lane or non-divided road, all vehicles in both directions must stop within 30 feet.
As you’re traveling, please move over and slow down for all emergency vehicles, including utility and highway maintenance workers parked on the roadway or shoulder and displaying flashing or rotating red, white, blue, amber, or green lights.
