The Roundup for Safety Board awarded nearly $10,000 to three local organizations for projects that will improve safety in their communities.
Mountain Brook Homestead Foundation received $1,500 to purchase an automated external defibrillator, or AED, along with accompanying supplies. Having an AED readily available can make a critical difference when someone experiences sudden cardiac arrest.
The Columbia Falls Community Center received $2,053 for safety improvements, including new chairs and gutters. The upgrades will help provide a safer space for the people who gather and participate in programs there.
Deer Park School received $6,000 toward the installation of a safer playground surface. The new surface will help reduce the risk of injury and create a safer place for students to play and be active.
Roundup for Safety is funded by Flathead Electric Cooperative members who voluntarily round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar. Those small contributions, averaging about $6 per member each year, are combined to support local projects that protect people and improve safety throughout our communities.
