Roundup for Safety Program Grants Hit 1,000 Mark
Flathead Electric’s Roundup for Safety program has reached a milestone by granting over 1,000 awards. At a recent board meeting, directors exceeded the 1,000 mark by awarding several grants, including a significant donation to Kalispell Public Schools for the Student Built House program. Since its inception in 1997, the program has awarded more than $3.5 million for a safer community.
Roundup for Safety awards grants to non-profit groups throughout the Cooperative’s service area to help pay for safety-related projects. Participating members allow their monthly bills to be “rounded up” to the nearest dollar, with the extra money going into a fund administered by an independent board of directors. Board President, Rex Harris, says there is cause for celebration coming up on the twenty-year anniversary, adding that Flathead Electric has members of the Co-op to thank for the program’s success.
“We are very grateful to the membership for providing these important funds. It’s truly remarkable how just a few cents from each of us adds up to a better and safer way of life.”
