Roundup for Safety grant will enhance library security
A $1,500 Roundup for Safety grant will provide an alarm system at the new West Shore Community Library (WSCL). This year, a building in Volunteer Park in Lakeside was generously donated to the library, but the building did not have an adequate security system in place. Staff said installing an alarm system at the new facility will not only help protect their 80 volunteers, but also their 9,000 patrons and travelers alike. In addition to the WSCL grant, Flathead Electric Cooperative’s Roundup for Safety Board also awarded grants for the following safety related community projects, bringing the total awarded at the October meeting to $4,885:
Saint John Lutheran Church – $1,200 for an AED;
Kootenai Valley Christian School – $720 for thermometers and hand sanitizer; and
Elrod Elementary School – $1,465 for surveillance cameras.
Roundup for Safety is a voluntary program for Flathead Electric Cooperative members who allow their electric bills to be rounded up to the next dollar, with the extra money going into a fund for community nonprofit safety projects. The Co-op is grateful to all who participate in enhancing the safety of our community.
