Roundup for Safety grant will aid in river rescues
A $6,000 Roundup for Safety grant will provide the North Valley Rescue Association with swift-water rescue kits. Members respond to an average of 100 calls each year and cover 219 miles of river. The grant will enable response to be even more efficient, which will benefit those in our community and beyond who spend time recreating on the water. Responding to an emergency quickly can mean the difference between a rescue…and a recovery.
In addition to the North Valley Rescue Association, Flathead Electric Cooperative’s Roundup for Safety Board also awarded grants for the following safety related community projects, bringing the total awarded at the July meeting to $10,275:
Kalispell Parks & Recreation-$2,125 for Woodland Park playground fall surface;
Kalispell Pee Wee Baseball-$1,000 for an AED; and
Bigfork VFW-$1,150 for an AED and a hemorrhage control station.
Roundup for Safety is a voluntary program for Flathead Electric Cooperative members who allow their electric bills to be rounded up to the next dollar, with the extra money going into a fund for community nonprofit safety projects. The Co-op is grateful to all who participate in enhancing the safety of our community.
