On July 10, Flathead Electric Cooperative’s Roundup for Safety program awarded $10,012 in grant funding to support two community safety projects.
One grant supports the purchase of bicycle helmets for distribution at Logan Health’s annual Spring into Safety Day. This free community event promotes safety awareness for all ages, with a special focus on injury prevention for children. Up to 1,000 free helmets for children and adults are fitted and distributed. Spring Into Safety will celebrate its 10th year in May 2026.
Katelyn Irving presented the request. She discussed Logan Health’s Community Helmet Safety Initiative, stating, “This program aims to establish a culture of safety and prevention in our community, ultimately reducing long-term health care costs and improving overall well-being. By making helmets accessible and educating on proper fit as well as usage, we help empower individuals and families in our community to make safer choices every day.” The Roundup for Safety Board of Directors granted $8,012 towards the helmet purchase.
Myranda Cravens represented the Libby Chamber of Commerce. The nonprofit group welcomes residents, businesses, and thousands of visitors to its location at Fireman’s Park annually. It requested assistance in purchasing an AED and improving its safety camera system. “With increased public interaction and growing foot traffic, the need for improved safety measures has become more apparent, especially the need for emergency medical preparedness on site,” Cravens told the Roundup for Safety Board of Directors. The Board awarded the group $2,000.
Roundup for Safety funding comes from participating Flathead Electric Cooperative members who allow their monthly electric bills to be rounded up to the nearest dollar.
