Over the last 9 years, food banks in Kalispell, Columbia Falls, Whitefish, Bigfork, Lakeside, and Libby have shared in $89,588 in cash and about 8,000 pounds of meat donated through Flathead Electric Cooperative’s annual Ribeye Raffle fundraiser. Tickets for this year’s raffle are on sale now.
As part of its commitment to the communities it serves, Flathead Electric Co-op purchases beef, lamb, and hogs each year during the 4-H and FFA (Future Farmers of America) Market Sale at the Northwest Montana Fair. Most of the meat—and all the cash—goes to the local food banks, except for the prime steak cuts, which are raffled off.
Will Tutvedt, the Co-op’s Community Outreach Specialist and Ribeye Raffle organizer, shared, “As a community-owned co-op, we’re happy to organize this fundraiser and grateful that our members are so generous. It’s a group effort to support our local food banks in such a meaningful way – plus, it’s really fun to meet all the 4-H and FFA kids and bid on their incredible animals at the Fair.”
The raffle winners take home approximately 60 one-inch-thick premium t-bone and ribeye steaks, valued at over $1,100 per winner. Tickets are $1 each or $5 for six and are available through August 16. To purchase raffle tickets:
