Flathead Electric Cooperative continues to advance its wildfire mitigation work through targeted vegetation management, equipment upgrades, and proactive hazard tree removal across the service territory. In May, crews cleared 6.44 miles of overhead primary line, contributing to 32.70 miles cleared so far in 2026. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to reduce wildfire risk, improve system reliability, and maintain safe clearance around critical electric infrastructure. In addition to line clearing, the Cooperative has mitigated 1,076 hazard trees since January 1, addressing trees that could threaten power lines during high winds, storms, or dry conditions. This ongoing work reflects the Co-op’s commitment to public safety, wildfire preparedness, and responsible stewardship of the electric system serving its members and communities.
