Community Support
Your Co-op is not-for-profit and member-owned. We operate under a set of core principles and values that include Concern for Community, which directs us to prioritize the needs of our members and the sustainable development of their communities. At times, we are available to provide financial assistance to support these communities. We offer this support in three distinct ways: via our member-funded Roundup for Safety program, our cooperative-funded Donations & Sponsorships, and our unclaimed capital credits-funded Education programs.
Roundup for Safety
Roundup for Safety is a community life safety program sponsored by the Co-op and voluntarily funded by members who “round up” their monthly electric bill to the nearest dollar. The extra money provides grant funds for locally based nonprofit safety projects. Donations & Sponsorships
Your Co-op welcomes the opportunity to help our communities and members in need. Please note that as a not-for-profit, member-owned electric utility, our budget for supporting community donations and sponsorship requests is limited. Educational Support
When more revenue is generated than is needed to operate, the excess money is allocated back to members as ‘capital credits.’ Some capital credits go unclaimed, and when they remain unclaimed for five years, Montana law permits the funds to be used for educational purposes. Your Co-op funds scholarships, Youth Tour, community education grants, and more with unclaimed capital credits.
