Residential New Construction & Service

New Construction

Building or remodeling a home that will need new electric service?

The following information is provided to help avoid any problems in providing electric service.

The procedures are subject to change. Updated: March 4, 2021

Dear Member,

Andy Masa headshotFlathead Electric Cooperative Inc. (FEC) wants your new construction experience to be safe and enjoyable. We are continually looking to improve our processes for you. Our office staff is available by phone Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm, so please don’t hesitate to call with questions or comments.

We provide this handbook to our members to assist in acquiring electrical power to your residential property. This should serve as a reference guide for construction and metering standards recognized by FEC. It presents information and general specifications about the supply and use of electricity from FEC. Adherence to these procedures and standards will promote safe electrical installations and reliable service.

FEC suggests using only qualified electrical and excavation contractors who know and understand FEC’s requirements, the National Electric Code (NEC), and the Electric Utility Service Equipment Requirements Committee (EUSERC).

We look forward to assisting you in planning electrical service to your project.

Sincerely,

Andy Masa
Distribution Design Supervisor
