We understand the reservations you may have about providing your Social Security Number (SSN) or other valid Federal ID Number. When you request electric service, you apply for credit. Your not-for-profit, member-owned electric cooperative sends you a bill each month for the electricity you’ve already used. That means your Co-op is extending credit until you pay your bill.

To help verify applicant identities, prevent identity theft, and evaluate whether a security deposit is required, Flathead Electric Cooperative requires an SSN from individual applicants or an FEIN from business applicants when establishing service. FEC may use this information to obtain a utility credit report. This is a soft inquiry and does not affect the applicant’s credit score.

As a member, your privacy is our top priority, and your information is handled with the utmost confidentiality. Thank you for helping your Co-op comply with this federal regulation, and for helping to protect the identities of all Flathead Electric Cooperative members.
