EUGENE, Ore. – The Eugene Water and Electric Board said the demand for electricity during this recent heat wave was the second-highest on record during the summer.

Electricity demand peaked at 418 megawatts on July 9, just shy of a 423 megawatt record set back in 2006. Aaron Orlowski, an EWEB spokesperson, said the utility did not run into any issues during the heat wave. He said a large reason why is the hydropower resources EWEB has at its disposal.
