Most members of Flathead Electric Cooperative receive their capital credits as credits on their November/December electric bills. However, inactive members typically don’t receive a bill, so their capital credits are returned via mailed checks. Members are most often inactive because they have moved. If they haven’t let the Co-op know of their new address, sometimes their capital credits checks are undeliverable and go unclaimed. If they’ve gone unclaimed for 5 years, the Co-op reinvests those funds back into the community by supporting educational causes like scholarships, Youth Tour, and grants. We keep a searchable list of members with unclaimed capital credits on our website.
