Get to know the people working for you.
Meet Kyle Carlson, Energy Services Supervisor
What did you do before joining Flathead Electric Cooperative?
I spent seven seasons working as a wilderness ranger in the Mission Mountains Wilderness with the U.S. Forest Service. I also worked as a professional brewer for 13 years, including serving as a head brewer.
For members who aren’t familiar with Energy Services, what does your team do?
We help members make informed energy decisions and get the most value from the electricity they use. Whether it’s understanding energy usage, finding rebates or improving efficiency, our team provides resources, technical guidance, and support for homes, farms, businesses, and large energy users.
What’s a common misconception you hear about saving energy?
Many people assume they need to replace all of their equipment to save energy. Sometimes simple maintenance, such as replacing a dirty furnace filter or tuning up heating and cooling equipment, can improve efficiency and performance.
Outside of work, what’s your favorite way to spend a day in Northwest Montana?
Any combination of mountains, rivers, lakes, a fly rod, and dogs make me happy. One of the best parts of living in Northwest Montana is that all those things are never very far away.
