Flathead Electric Cooperative recently completed construction of Community Solar III, a solar farm located in Whitefish. The project expands locally generated energy and gives co-op members an opportunity to participate in solar power without installing panels on their own property. There is a limited number of panels available for this program, and they will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. You may be required to show proof of income qualification.
About the Program
What does this program do?
Income-qualified Flathead Electric members who choose to participate in this program will receive “solar credit” from one solar panel that can reduce the cost of their monthly bill by roughly $3-$5 per month or $36-$60 per year.
Please note that the value of the monthly credit can vary based on:
- The weather (cloudy months will generate less energy than sunny months)
- How much energy a member personally consumes each month
Monthly solar credits will not lower your demand charge.
