Flathead Electric crews remove a row of trees along Fourth Street East in Whitefish in a cooperative project with the City of Whitefish. The trees, elms and a few Douglas fir, are what is known as “cycle busters” because they grow so fast and need to be trimmed ahead of the trimming cycle. New trees that mature to a height that won’t threaten power lines will be planted in their place. Flathead Electric is contributing $1,000 toward the purchase of new trees.
