FEC Employee Provides Everyone with an Opportunity to Give Back
"One person really can make a difference - we aren't alone, we are here together and we need to help each other."

Nancy Yager, Phlebotomist for the American Red

Mike Satterly, FEC's GIS Mapping Supervisor, takes community involvement to a whole different level.  He gives back on an individual level and makes sure that others at the Co-op and in the community have an opportunity to contribute as well.

Mike organizes a Red Cross Blood Drive at the Co-op on a quarterly basis.  Co-op employees and our members are able to donate blood at FEC in Kalispell during the scheduled timeframe.

What inspired Mike to take on the effort?  "I sat in a United Way committee meeting and it opened my eyes to real needs out there and what a sense of community was all about", answers Mike.  Mike wanted to offer a way for others to participate in giving back and this seemed like an ideal solution for FEC and the Red Cross.  "The Red Cross is such a humanitarian effort - they help everyone.  It's a great partnership," states Satterly.

Mike and Becky, his wife of 35 years, are the proud parents of two sons serving in the military.  Mikes is also a Big Brother to Zachary, an 11 year-old with a passion for drumming.

We invite anyone in the community to participate in the Blood Drives at the Co-op on a quarterly basis.  For example, 25 units of blood were collected in August.  We can all benefit by taking Mike's philosophy to heart by helping each other.
