67th FEC Annual Meeting

Annual meeting draws 350 members

Co-op reports show another successful year in 2003

More than 350 Flathead Electric members gathered for the Co-op’s 67th annual meeting on March 29 to meet the new general manager, listen to reports on 2003 operations and hear short speeches from candidates for three open trustee seats.

Co-op StaffFlathead Electric had a successful year in 2003, with final audited margins of $4.7 million and record growth in membership. Members who spoke during the public comment section of the meeting had positive things to say about the Co-op and its employees.

Trustee Earl Messick of Libby, chairman of the Co-op’s Bylaws Committee, explained several proposed bylaw changes that resulted from members’ suggestions at the last annual meeting.

Only one of the open trustee seats was contested. Incumbent trustee Doug Grob and former trustee Francis Rosse are running for the seat representing District 4, Helena Flats. Incumbents Bruce Measure (District 7, South Kalispell) and Chris H. Byrd (District 1, Columbia Heights to Essex) were the only candidates for their districts.

Trustee elections and voting on the proposed bylaw changes will be determined by mail-in ballots that were sent to all members. Election results will be announced at the trustee meeting on April 28. Due to Watts Happening deadlines, results were not available for this issue, but will be announced in the news media and on the Flathead Electric web site: www.flatheadelectric.com.

Winner of the $500 grand prize was Warren Taylor of Kalispell.

Thanks to all members who took time to attend the annual meeting. Your participation is important to the Co-op.
