Co-op members OK bylaw revision
3 Trustees Elected in Mail-In Vote

Flathead Electric members elected three members to the Board of Trustees—two incumbents and a newcomer—and approved a revision of the Co-op bylaws by mail-in ballot.

Emery Smith of Kalispell was elected as trustee for District 2, Lower Valley, replacing Brent Hall on the board. Trustees re-elected were Alan Ruby in District 5, North Kalispell, and Jay Downen in District 3, Whitefish. All were elected to three-year terms.

The bylaw revision was approved by a wide margin. The accounting firm of Junkermeier, Clark, Campanella, Stevens, which counted the ballots, reported that just over 6,000 ballots were returned by the April 18 deadline.

It was the first major revision of the bylaws since the Co-op was established in the 1930s.

The Board of Trustees and management expressed appreciation to all Co-op members who voted in the election.

Crews Prepare for Busy Construction Season

Scheduled work includes cable replacement, substation improvements, new services

In Bigfork, Phase I of the major rebuild is under way, with crews working on Holt Drive between Eagle Bend and the bowling alley on Highway 35. In the fall, the rebuild will continue through the town of Bigfork.

Another summer project will be the Reserve Drive Reinforcement, replacing transmission and distribution equipment to better serve the greater North Kalispell area. This project will be along Reserve from Whitefish Stage Road east to the railroad tracks near Cooperative Way.

Underground cable replacement projects are scheduled throughout the system. Replacement of more than 52,000 feet of cable is planned for this construction season. Areas scheduled for cable replacement are Labrant Road, Desert Mountain, Hemler Creek, Lakeshore Heights, Hillcrest, Warland, Parkview Estates, Northridge, Liahona Lane, 5 Deer Lane, McGinnis Meadows, Middle Road, and Four Mile Drive. Existing cable in a number of areas will be injected with a silicone-based substance that
