Safety Santa Steve
Keeping Little and Big Kids Safe Year-Round

Steve Bech is recognizable.  Maybe not by adults, but he is a celebrity of sorts when it comes to kids.  Do we dare liken him to a Santa Claus-like icon this time of year?  Sure.  Steve and his crew of elves at FEC like Ross Holter and Wade Harris travel by truck instead of sled.  They visit children in schools and at fairs, not malls.  They give kids gifts for answering safety-related questions - not for being nice.

Thank You F.E.C.He is Safety Santa Steve!  He cares - about kids and about adults.  We want everyone to know about him and there is no time off after the holidays - we want his presence to be very apparent year-round.

Safety presentations to school kids and construction contractors are a worthwhile and solid commitment to our community.  Teach about the dangers of electricity and being safe around electricity is difficult to measure.  However, even if Steve or his crew of elves has saved one life - we don't need a tangible measurement.

There is evidence of the transfer of knowledge.  It's how kids respond to Steve outside of his Safety Santa role.  They know him when they see him.  They say, "Hey that's the guy from school with the cool power line demonstration!"  And chances are they can tell him how fast electricity travels and what to do if the vehicle they are in hits a utility pole.  One life saved?  Yeah, at a minimum, but we bet it's more.

For more information on staying safe around electricity, pleas call Steve Bech at 751-4483.
