The future of your reliable, affordable, and carbon-free electricity is at stake.

Your member-owned, not-for-profit electric co-op operates on a longstanding, clearly defined mission: to provide competitive and reliable services. That mission defines the job your Co-op does every day and takes very seriously – to distribute affordable (competitive) and reliable (your power is almost always on) electricity to you. For Flathead Electric Cooperative members, that electricity is largely generated by hydropower.

Ice Harbor Dam, Lower Granite Dam, Lower Monumental Dam, and Little Goose Dam are highlighted in red on this map. Because we are in the Columbia River Basin, we rely on electricity generated by these federal hydro projects.

Your Co-op’s mission is threatened by a potential settlement agreement related to ongoing litigation over the Columbia River Basin hydropower system. Your Co-op strongly believes that this agreement will have grave consequences for the reliable, affordable electricity Co-op members and millions of others in our 8-state region have relied on for over 80 years.

We believe this agreement represents the greatest threat to affordable, reliable power that our Co-op, and others in our region, have ever experienced. We urge you to consider using your voice to Protect Our Power. One simple way to do so is to contact Montana’s Congressional delegation to share your thoughts. You can find their contact information here.
