Flathead Electric Cooperative, Inc., is currently accepting applications for the position of Fleet Supervisor in our Kalispell office. This is a full time exempt position. Wage DOE with an excellent benefits package.

Duties: Responsible for overseeing all fleet operations, to include the management of personnel, materials, safety, fleet maintenance, use and replacement, and other related responsibilities. Writes specifications, evaluates bids, and determines best method for disposal of retired units.

Prerequisite Skills and Experience: Requires associates degree in a related field and 5 years of experience or 10 years working experience. Graduate of an automotive trade school specializing in diesel, hydraulic and heavy truck repair preferred. Prefer two years experience in diesel, hydraulic and heavy truck repair, and overall fleet management. Prefer experience in the following areas: record keeping; personnel management; thorough knowledge of auto repair and test equipment; demonstrated ability to supervise crafts; truck specing and a thorough knowledge in engine types, axle ratings, gear ratio, and boom & bucket ratings. Demonstrated ability to be dependable, cooperative, a self-starter, effectively manage time, be accurate, and thorough. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and good people skills required. Computer proficiency, including the use of Excel spreadsheets, and basic math required. Must possess effective verbal communications, interpersonal skills and legible handwriting. Must be able to obtain a First Aid and CPR certificate (training provided by F.E.C.). Must have a valid Montana driver’s license and be insurable. Physical requirements:

  1. Must be able to walk outdoors and year-around, including all kinds of weather conditions (heat, cold, wet, wind, & ice) and terrain.
  2. Must be able to go from sitting to standing constantly throughout the workday.
  3. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  4. Must be able to drive a vehicle 10 hrs/day max on rare trips; must be able to travel by air when needed.
