Mark your calendars! Flathead Electric Cooperative's 75th Anniversary Celebration and Annual Members' Meeting will be held March 17, 2012 at the Christian Center, located at 255 Summit Ridge in Kalispell. Registration and refreshments will begin 8:30 am, with a short business meeting to commence at 10:00. There will be prize drawings and child care provided. Members in attendance will learn about the financial stability of the Co-op and Flathead Electric's continued focus on power supply, rates and energy efficiency. We will also hear from those running for Board of Trustee positions
Back this year! Two $500 scholarships will be awarded at the meeting to area high school seniors planning to enroll at an in-state college or university. To be eligible for the drawing, the students’ parent or guardian must be a member of Flathead Electric Co-op and the student and parent or guardian must be present at the meeting to win.
The board and staff want to extend a sincere thank you in advance to members who attend and vote, and they encourage all of you to stay involved with the future success of Flathead Electric Cooperative.
Three seats on the Flathead Electric Board of Trustees are up for election this year. Potential candidates must be members of the Co-op and live in the district they seek election to represent. The nominating petition requires 25 signatures from Co-op members who also live in the candidate’s district. Nominating petitions are due with a photograph and biography by March 9th, at the latest, in order to give the Nominating Committee time to verify signatures.
Incumbent Trustees up for reelection are: Emery Smith (District #2-Lower Valley), Jay Downen (District #3-Whitefish, Big Mountain, Olney) and Alan Ruby (District #5-Kalispell, North of Highway 2). A map showing exact boundaries for each district and nominating forms are available below. For more information, call the Cooperative at 751-4483. Candidates will have the opportunity to give a three-minute speech to the membership at the Annual Meeting on March 17th. A mail-in ballot election will be held after the meeting.
